Cobbler's Cove is located on the
north west coast of Barbados within easy walking distance of
Speightstown. This town has recently been revived and is now the
home of a brand new luxury marina. There are also some excellent
restaurants in the area and some fine examples of Barbadian
architecture.
Cobblers Cove is a
beautiful, small bay just south of Speightstown on the more favored
Caribbean side of the island. The beach is a crescent. There are
only five homes on the bay, including Woodlands and the residence of
Claudette Colbert. The location is 4 1/2 miles north of the
world-famous Sandy Lane Hotel, and approximately 45 minutes from the
airport.
The beach is natural
white coral sand, which is soft, with the texture of Parisian talcum
powder. The waters in front of the beach are totally free of coral
and are superb for swimming. A reef nearby offers excellent
snorkeling and scuba diving.
Water sports (as well
as a magnificent meal or drinks at the beachside bar) are available
at Cobblers Cove Hotel, a four minute amble down the beach. Golf and
tennis are easily arranged.
Another advantage of
the location is the village of Speightstown, which is five-minute
stroll up the beach from Woodlands. Speightstown offers restaurants,
a supermarket, banks, post office, drug store and various other shops.
