Liassidi Palace Hotel, Venice, Italy

HOTEL STYLE: Boutique
HOTEL RATING: 4-Stars
HOTEL DESCRIPTION:
A hotel in Venice in a beautiful building with an ancient history.
The fifteenth century Zorzi-Liassìdi building is an elegant example of Venetian gothic architecture which was built on the foundations of a previous medieval structure. Its facade is dominated by a splendid mullioned window with six lights framed in decorations and inserted between two couples of windows. The balconies of the first floor have some overturned columns and for this reason this building is also known as The Zorzi Building with the crooked columns.
The name Liassìdi is that of the Cypriot family who owned the building up until the beginning of the 1900's. Another connection links the history of this building to the island of Cyprus: in 1436, it was purchased by the Zorzi – Corner (Cornaro) Family who, from the beginning of the 1500's, played a primary role in the economic and political life of the Republic of Venice, numbering, among their members, the famous Caterina Cornaro who was the queen of Cyprus. Thanks to the Zorzi-Corner Family the building became very famous, arousing the admiration of the famous architect Jacopo Sansovino (1486 -1570).
The recent restoration work has given the building back its ancient splendour, while equipping it with the most modern technology as regards safety and comfort.
The entrance from Calle della Madonna leads into the courtyard, a small area that is filled with jasmine and lemon plants and that is overlooked by the lobby of the hotel, a combination of Italian design and the elegance of an ancient Venetian home. The heart of this exclusive hotel in Venice is the large banquet hall on the piano nobile.
Its high ceilings, decorated with visible beams and beautiful Murano glass lamps, elegant furniture and the splendid mullioned window with six lights overlooking the canal, make it an exclusive and elegant setting. On the ground floor, the Hotel has its own water access directly from the San Lorenzo Canal.
ACCOMMODATIONS:
A hotel in Venice where design and elegance are combined with tradition, forming a unique balance.
Each of the 26 rooms of this splendid Venetian hotel has its own personality, thanks to the extremely functional use of space and the unusual combination of materials: light colored oak combined with the gold of the carved head-boards, the dark tones of the national walnut with the warm colours of the fabrics.
The soft and elegant lines of this furniture blends into the contemporary forms of the glazed metal frames and the brass and glass tables.
The modern heart of these small universes is enclosed in mirror studded wardrobes, designer lamps and large canvases that reproduce some of the most important paintings of the last two centuries. A Venetian-style terrace enriches the rooms on the piano nobile; the light colored veins of the wooden floors create a warm atmosphere in the other rooms that are situated over three floors. Some offer a romantic intimacy, others, with high walls, are enriched with gothic windows or an elegant three-mullioned window.
Each room of the Liassidi offers a particular view : overlooking the garden of an ancient building, overlooking the internal courtyard, overlooking the San Lorenzo canal or Ponte dei Greci and the cupola of the Church of St. George.
The bathrooms are an oasis of relaxation and comfort in a spread of tiny mosaic patterns: porcelain with soft lines and echiums of classic beauty, Jacuzzi baths and in two cases, shower areas with Scottish style water massage showers.
Among all the hotels in Venice The Liassidi Palace takes special care of its disabled clients, reserving the 2 junior suites for them on the ground floor, which were especially designed and equipped with baths for disabled people. For our more demanding guests we have 4 exclusive suites, two of which have two double beds, while the third one may be united with an adjoining standard room.
AMENITIES & FACILITIES:
Before immersing themselves in the marvels of the city of the Dogi, the guests of this elegant Venetian hotel will be welcomed into the two breakfast rooms on the ground floor, that overlook the San Lorenzo Canal.
Here, in a refined atmosphere, a rich buffet of sweet and savory delights will await them.
One of these rooms houses the bar of the Liassìdi Hotel where clients can enjoy a relaxing moment perhaps sampling the traditional “Spritz” or one of the cocktails prepared by the barman.
The top floor of the hotel has a very welcoming room where the national walnut and frosted glass decorated walls create two ideal environments for small business meetings.
On the same floor the hotel also has a large banquet hall that, on request, may be transformed into a spacious conference room.
Discreteness and courtesy characterize the staff of the Liassidi Hotel who are at the complete service of clients ensuring that their stay in this splendid city is unforgettable: recommending a typical restaurant or a traditional “bacaro”, booking tickets for a concert at the Fenice Theatre or indeed an airline ticket.
The hotel has a comfortable lift which is also accessible to clients with disabilities, ensuring that they reach the piano nobile without any difficulty.
