The four most popular islands — Oahu,
Hawaii, Maui, Kauai
Day 1
Flight To Honolulu. Upon arrival you are greeted in the
traditional Polynesian way — with a warm aloha and a lei of
fresh flowers. Transfer to your hotel in Waikiki. This evening
mix and mingle with your traveling companions at the 7:00 p.m.
GLOBUS SIGNATURE WELCOME RECEPTION combining fun and fine
cuisine. Sample an abundance of Hawaiian specialties while your
Tour Director prepares you for your upcoming adventure. (SR)
Day 2 Honolulu. A breakfast get-together with your Tour Director
to review activities scheduled throughout your Hawaiian stay.
The balance of the day is free to relax, swim, enjoy water
sports, or laze in the sun. Maybe take the optional excursion to
the Polynesian Cultural Center, featuring authentic island arts,
crafts, history, and music, and a dinner buffet and spectacular
Polynesian show featuring more than 100 performers. (B)
Day 3 Honolulu. Pearl Harbor and City Sightseeing. Begin with a
tour of Pearl Harbor’s famous battleship row. Listen to a
narration of the dramatic air attack of December 7, 1941, and
visit the USS ARIZONA and the impressive MEMORIAL to the 1,102
men still entombed. You will also have an opportunity to visit
the MUSEUM, which is an excellent way to learn about Pearl
Harbor Day, the Japanese strategy and military craft, and the
individuals involved in the attack. As a partner with the
Traveler's Conservation Foundation, Globus has chosen this
museum for preservation and restoration funding. On to Punchbowl
National Cemetery and Honolulu Lookout. Other sights include
Chinatown, Hawaii's state capitol, royal Iolani Palace, and King
Kamehameha's statue. This evening maybe enjoy an optional sunset
cruise with dinner, Hawaiian cocktails, and splendid views of
the glittering Waikiki coastline and Diamond Head. (B)
Day 4 Honolulu-Kona. Morning flight to the "Big Island." Arrive
in Kona and journey to the PU'UHONUA O HONAUNAU NATIONAL
HISTORICAL PARK, the site where until the early 19th century
Hawaiians who broke a kapu, or one of the ancient laws against
the gods, could avoid certain death by fleeing to this place of
refuge. The archaeological grounds include a temple, great wall,
and a number of other important artifacts. Dinner tonight is a
splendid luau feast with captivating Polynesian musicians and
dancers. Note: On some departures, the luau will be held on day
6. (B,D)
Day 5 Kona. Volcanoes National Park. Today visit HAWAII
VOLCANOES NATIONAL PARK to see Kilauea Crater, steaming fire
pits and lava tubes. Kilauea is the world's most active volcano.
Lunch at the Volcano House. (B,L,D)
Day 6 Kona. Day at leisure to pursue your favorite interests.
Relax at your splendid seaside resort or perhaps do some
independent sightseeing or shopping. Other optional activities
include helicopter flight-seeing and snorkeling. (B)
Day 7 Kona-Kauai. Morning flight to the "Garden Isle" of Kauai.
View pretty Opaeka'a Falls before proceeding to Princeville for
lunch overlooking Bali Hai, from the movie South Pacific.
Continue to sunny Poipu, visiting a guava plantation en route. (B,L)
Day 8 Kauai. No activities have been scheduled today to give you
time to relax and enjoy your oceanfront resort. Optional tours
available are helicopter flight-seeing and snorkeling. Note: If
you have scheduled independent activities for this evening, you
can opt to have dinner at your leisure on day 7. (B,D)
Day 9 Kauai. Waimea Canyon. Start the day with a drive to
Waimea, once the Polynesian capital of Kauai and the site where
Captain Cook landed in the islands in 1778. Sightseeing
highlights include WAIMEA CANYON, the "Grand Canyon of the
Pacific," and Hanapepe Valley. With the afternoon free, your
Tour Director will suggest an optional horseback ride on the
trails and along the sandy beaches. (B,D)
Day 10 Kauai-Maui. This morning a short, scenic flight to the
"Valley Island" of Maui. Drive to the lush IAO VALLEY to see the
Iao Needle, a spectacular volcanic spire. Visit Lahaina and then
continue on to Kaanapali, your home for the next three nights.
Balance of the day at leisure. (B,D)
Day 11 Maui. A full free day to swim and sunbathe at the beach
or hotel pool. Consider our optional helicopter flightseeing
excursion over Molokai for spectacular vistas of Kahiwa Falls
and Kalaupapa National Historic Park. Another choice is the
"Road to Hana," one of the world's most impressive drives with
54 bridges and numerous waterfalls. From mid-December to
mid-April a humpback whale-watching cruise is available. (B)
Day 12 Maui. Haleakala National Park. The morning is dedicated
to HALEAKALA NATIONAL PARK, site of the huge volcanic Haleakala
Crater, known as the "House of the Sun." In 1980 this native
ecosystem of cinder cones and dense rain forest was designated
an International Biosphere Reserve. Plenty of time in the
afternoon to relax and enjoy your hotel's facilities, or take
the optional visit to the Maui Ocean Center for a look at the
vast, undersea world surrounding the islands. This evening your
Tour Director hosts a special Globus Farewell Celebration
Dinner. Wonderful conversation and cuisine make the perfect
finale for your vacation. (B,D)
