Rio Caliente is a unique natural hot springs spa and retreat, only 45 minutes from Guadalajara, Mexico. Nestled on the slopes of an ancient volcanic valley and surrounded by the natural beauty of the mountainous Primavera forest, Rio Caliente is an ideally secluded location for a restful, relaxing, rejuvenating spa vacation.

Accommodations

Classic Comfort, Mexican Style.
Every bedroom at Rio Caliente is a personal retreat with your own fireplace and private tiled bathroom. Choose from single, double or triple bedrooms. To enhance your stay, there are no televisions, phones, or alarm clocks in the guest rooms; all rooms are non-smoking.

When booking, you may request a room in either the patio or pool area; while we can't guarantee we'll be able to meet your request, we'll do our best.

The Patio Area
At the top of the hill, twenty-four rooms surround a large patio, which features lounge chairs, tables, a fire pit and a luxurious eight person whirlpool hot tub. In the patio area, you'll be close to the dining room, our offices and the Palapa.

The Pool Area
Cottages at the bottom of the hill are close to the pools, steam room and massage, beauty and health complex. Rooms here have sun decks and views of the river, which is particularly beautiful in the early morning when the steam rises.

Dining

Whole Food Buffet
At mealtime, you'll enjoy enriching conversations with other guests while you share a wonderful culinary experience. Menus are nutritionally planned to provide protein and energy without relying on animal sources.

Our buffets feature:
•Homemade breads, granola and oatmeal
•Eggs, beans or potatoes
•Fresh vegetables and tropical fruits, papaya with every meal, and leafy green salads
•Organic pastas, tofu, beans, rice and grain dishes (we serve white meat once a week for those who desire it)
•Salsas, tortillas, tostadas, and other Mexican treats
•Fresh yogurt and local honey
•Fresh-squeezed juices and traditional Mexican beverages
•Organic Mexican coffee and a selection of herbal teas

Quality
Everything we buy is of the highest quality, fresh from the local farmer's market or the organic store. We grind our own wheat and bake our high protein bread and muffins here at the spa.

Safety
We use a two-step ultra-violet and ozone purification process to ensure that all the food prepared in the kitchen is free of any bacteria or other contaminants.

Weight Loss
It is possible to eat well and lose weight on vacation. Our dishes are so accessible to metabolic processes that nothing is left to be stored in the body and it's relatively easy to lose weight during your stay — most guests report losing half a pound a day without effort.

Alcohol
No alcohol is served.

Spa Packages & Rates
There are two ways to experience Rio Caliente. Our Spa Vacation Packages include selected treatments and are so affordable that you can indulge in extra treatments without feeling guilty. Our Nightly Rates include only access to the amenities, for guests who want to choose their treatments a la carte.

Spa Vacation Packages
Our Spa Vacation Packages have been designed to make it easy for you to relax and be pampered—and save money off our nightly rates. Your Spa Vacation Package includes accommodations, buffet-style vegetarian meals, yoga and water exercise classes, guided hikes, mineral hot pools, steam room, evening programs and selected treatments. Our 2010 rates are:

All rates are posted in U.S. dollars and subject to 16% Mexican value added tax. Gratuities for the staff are included, except for your treatment therapists, whom you should tip as you would at home. Cash, traveler's checks, or personal checks are welcome. (Sorry, no credit cards.) Rates are subject to change at any time without notice.

Deposit
Reservations are confirmed on receipt of your deposit for $300 per person.
