HOTEL INFORMATION |
|
In 1789
Captain William Bligh sailed right by Wakaya Island. Over
200 years later, Canadian entrepreneur David Gilmour and his
New Zealand-born wife, Jill, dreamed of creating the
ultimate unspoiled tropical haven on this tiny silver of
paradise.
In 1990,
Wakaya's rich history and the Gilmour's unique vision came
together. The Wakaya Club was born. Since its inception the Gilmours, together with a village of 140 Fijians, have
presented the serene spirit and breathtaking beauty of this
spectacular island.
Wakaya remains
the jewel in the crown of the Fiji Islands today. And The
Wakaya Club is one of the world's finest tropical resorts, a
private retreat that accomplishes an extraordinary
combination - providing gracious living, sophisticated
cuisine and unparalleled leisure opportunities in one of the
most remote and pristine corners of the world. |

ACCOMMODATION |
Bures
The Wakaya Club has nine spacious Fijian cottage suites or
bures. Each one is a luxurious hideaway designed to indulge
you in the beauty of the island while providing every
conceivable comfort.
Governor's
Bure
The Governor's Bure is the largest and most romantic of our
nine Fijian cottage suites. This elegant hideaway, name for
Fiji's first British governor who lived across the water in
the old capitol of Levuka, is a secluded retreat equipped to
provide every conceivable comfort. Located closest to
Homestead Beach, the Governor's Bure is a stone's throw from
the marina, where scuba diving and fishing expeditions
depart.
Vale O
Vale O, or "House in the Clouds," is the island home of
David and Jill Gilmour, owners of The Wakaya Club and Wakaya
Island. The villa, said the be the finest in the South
Pacific, is available to guest as a "limited edition"
experience when the Gilmours are not in residence.
Overlooking
the Koro Sea and Homestead Bay (the island's longest white
sand beach), Vale O superbly melds western comfort with
eastern serenity, showcasing the beauty of the island and
the art and culture of the South Pacific. |
